ISLA launches Shirt Sale '07
Jul 2007

Do you want to help raise awareness of the Calayan Rail and its conservation among your friends and family? Then buy a shirt and tell everyone about that bird on your back.

That's how the Calayan Rail Project team hopes to involve more people in conservation awareness and at the same time raise funds for the project.

The team launched the Calayan Rail T-shirt during Nutrition Month culmination festivities in Calayan Island last 26-27 July 2007. They sold dozens of this fashionable garment that has a full color image of the Calayan Rail by veteran bird illustrator Renato Aquino at the back. The shirts are available in brown and in white and come in different sizes.

"This is an opportunity for everybody to take part in conserving Philippine biodiversity, especially the Calayan Rail," said project team leader Carl Oliveros.

Starting August 2007 the project team is also giving away Calayan Rail fact sheets to shirt buyers for free.

"Anyone can volunteer to help sell shirts and if you sell a lot, we'll give you one for free," added Carl.

Shirts are still available in Calayan, Manila and even in the U.S. For orders or inquiries, please contact: Mike Morales in Calayan (+63.919.2742972); Cynthia Layusa in Metro Manila (+63.917.5408362, email: cynthia@isla.org.ph) or Carl Oliveros in Kansas, USA (+1.785.9794337, email: carl@isla.org.ph).
