Calayan exhibit visits Cagayan State University and 2nd Philippine Bird Festival
September 2006

After its success during the Calayan fiesta celebrations, the Calayan biodiversity photo-exhibit was on display on 13-15 September 2006 at the Cagayan State University (CSU) – Carig during their Intramurals Week and on 22-23 September in Quezon City during the 2nd Philippine Bird Festival.

Teachers and students of CSU – Carig assembled and manned the photo-exhibit for three days in their campus where the Calayan Rail face paint proved immensely popular among university students. The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences of the University as well as other university officials expressed their gratitude for the loan of exhibit materials and were supportive of possible future collaborative projects with ISLA.

A week later, the exhibit moved to the nation’s capital to join the 2nd Philippine Bird Festival organized by the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines. Various conservation groups and social development foundations converged at the second annual festival to focus attention on conserving endemic bird species in the Philippines, the bird watching hobby and responsible appreciation of nature. The festival attracted hundreds of primary, secondary and university students as well as nature enthusiasts.
