Biodiversity survey records 44 vertebrate species on Camiguin Island
February 2007

A total of at least 44 species of terrestrial vertebrates were recorded in a biodiversity survey carried out on Camiguin Island last Feb 4-20. These include a few new island records and a few possible new taxa of mammals, reptiles and amphibians.

The survey formed part of Isla's ongoing research collaboration with the University of Kansas Museum of Natural History and Biodiversity Research Center in the Babuyan Islands and is their second visit to the island in two years. The team was composed of Carl Oliveros, Angela Quiros, Nonito Antoque, Renato Fernandez and Jason Fernandez.

The team recorded at least 18 species of birds, 9 species of mammals, 14 species of reptiles and 3 species of amphibians. Full details of the surveys will be published in due time.
